Hello, I am Emma
A project manager and parent. Expat living in Zürich, Switzerland.
Several years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of my life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Switzerland wasn’t in our long-range plans. As with many international assignments, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, new routines, fresh expectations. Daily chores seemed more complex than they ought to be.
The Transition Phase
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of learning on the fly. Gradually, routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Created Lively Harbor Beam
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or superficial travel material. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice grounded in real life in Switzerland.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Real-world experience from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever a meaningful change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Switzerland continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Zürich or anywhere in Switzerland, please get in touch.
Best regards,
Emma
